Dara Hartman is a full-time studio artist in Salt Lake City, UT. She taught at Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland, OR and Clark College in Vancouver, WA. She was a resident artist at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, MT. Dara received her MFA from Montana State University and BFA from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. After completing her undergraduate degree she served as an apprentice to artists Donna Polseno and Richard Hensley. Most recently, she spent two years as a ceramic product designer.
Dara’s work is deeply influenced by her natural surroundings. Her pots are not meant to copy nature but to reflect the quiet beauty of the outdoors. Her forms, patterns, and glazes are an investigation of colors and shapes found in nature from flowers, clovers and tree trunks to shallow pools of water. She hopes to bring a moment of peacefulness and discovery to her pots.
